“The best protest we can do right now is be Māori, be who we are, live our values, speak our reo, care for our mokopuna.”
- Kīngi Tūheitia at Tūrangawaewae Marae Jan 20, 2024
We come from a world where your word is your bond, your word had mana and we stood by what we said. 184 years ago we had Te Tīriti with the Crown promising that our Taonga would be protected, this still hasn’t been honored. In 2024, our current government are now threatening to eradicate everything Māori including Te Tīriti.
“Ka whawhai tonu mātou, ake ake ake!
“We will fight on forever, for as long as it takes!”
-The Battle of Orākau Pā, Kihikihi, 1864
